Aerobics is a dynamic and exhilarating cocurricular experience open to all St Leonard’s College students in Prep to Year 12.”
Aerobic gymnastics or sport aerobics is a captivating blend of athleticism and artistic expression. Originating from traditional aerobics, this competitive sport demands complex, high-intensity movement patterns performed to music. Our Aerobics teams participate in the TFT ‘Schoolaerobics’ competition, the largest interschool competition for primary and secondary school students throughout Australia, showcasing their talents at both state and national levels.
The aerobics season kicks off in February and extends until mid-October. As an optional cocurricular sport, aerobics offers a unique opportunity for students to cultivate a positive attitude, increase physical activity, boost self-esteem, and foster team participation and spirit.
Aerobics requires a steadfast commitment from both students and their families throughout the entire year. This commitment involves attending all scheduled training sessions and competitions with their respective teams. The result is not just success on the scoreboard but the development of resilience, teamwork, and a strong sense of camaraderie.
Our training sessions are strategically designed to accommodate the diverse schedules of our students. For Junior school programs, training takes place weekly after school, providing a perfect outlet for our younger enthusiasts. Secondary students engage in morning training sessions before school, setting a positive tone for the rest of their day.
At St Leonard’s College, we believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals, and our aerobics teams exemplify the perfect fusion of passion and performance.
