St Leonard's College | Independent School Melbourne

Curiosity meets coding at the St Leonard’s College Informatics Club. This dynamic mixed activity is open to students from Years 5 to 12, fostering a collaborative environment that transcends traditional age boundaries.”
Our Informatics Club commences midway through term 2 and convenes weekly, culminating with the Australian Informatics Olympiad (AIO) competition at the end of term 3. In term 4, we offer a unique opportunity for students in Years 5 to 10 to participate in the Victorian Coding Challenge, a competition run by the Maths Association of Victoria.
Participants in this club not only enhance their coding skills, but also benefit from the experience of working as part of a team. For those proficient in Python or C++, the AIO competition provides a chance to showcase their abilities on a broader stage. Meanwhile, the Victorian
Coding Challenge introduces younger or less experienced coders to the world of Scratch and other coding languages.
Beyond the traditional curriculum, students in this club develop essential skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, and leadership. These skills, nurtured through student-led sessions, lay the foundation for lifelong learning and success in future careers. It’s an exciting journey for all participants, where coding becomes a key to unlocking a world of possibilities.
